Why I Went Natural

Okay, okay, okay—since I get too many questions about this, let’s address it now. My hair journey, like many Black women, has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least! As I went through the motions each month for new hairstyles, I soon realized the damage it was having on my hair. But like most, I ignored it and kept my cool hairstyles. But at one point, I just woke up feeling like it’s time to just embrace my hair texture and let it be. So I just did it—chopped the perm off and started over. Here lies my hair journey. 🙂

Current and Last: Havana Twists

To maintain healthy locks, I wash my hair with nonsulfate products like the Shea Moisture product line. I keep my hair hydrated with olive and Moroccan oil. Furthermore, I suggest sticking to one hairstylist. Switching often causes breakage since different hairstylists will manage your hair differently. Luckily for me, I twist my hair weekly, so I advise learning to do it yourself with YouTube videos.
